Artsy Fifth Graders Week 3

This week's art assignment was similar to last week, but in color!

Bucket o' fish

Hong surprised me yesterday with some fish. Fortunately I was not expected to kill, clean, or cook them. Unfortunately they kept leaping to their doom.

A bit of hiking

Went hiking and exploring with friends on Saturday. Was reminded, again, how important it is to get away from the city.

Artsy Fifth Graders

I'm so excited to be teaching art in my classroom this year! Because of the growing number of students at my school, the primary students' art classes were moved into their main classrooms to be taught by their homeroom teacher.

I have TONS of artsy ideas. For the first week of school, I decided to have them cut their names out of colorful paper using a graffiti art style. It mostly turned into a lesson about overlapping letters and trying to fill the entire paper. Here are some of the finished products!

Antsy Antsy Ants'hillvania...

This morning I woke up to find thousands of ants crawling all over this pair of shoes. (This picture was taken after beating both of them against the wall.) I looked inside and realized that they thought this was their new home.

Yesterday we took a drive about 45 minutes outside of Vientiane to celebrate Hong's brother's brother-in-law's house-opening ceremony. It was so good to get away from the dust and pollution of the city into the freshness of the partially-jungled parts of Laos.
